"Adivinar" is a Spanish verb that generally means "to predict" or "to prophecy", and Adivina is a simple computer game which does exactly that. The game does not occupy much space on a computer hard drive, but allows players to burn some time in an entertaining "guess the number" style game against the computer. The goal is for Adivina's computer intelligence to guess what number a player is thinking of without requiring the player to introduce any give away hints or instructions that would make it easy for the computer to obtain an answer.
While Adivina may appear to guess the player's number magically, it is actually predicted via a mathematical algorithm. Some people, if they were to sit and think about it for a while, may be able to figure out how the program's algorithm manages to make such accurate guesses, but doing so would perhaps take the charm out of this game. For others, figuring out the process behind the game's calculations might be entertaining in itself. Introducing the game to friends and family can be entertaining as well, especially if they are unaware of the algorithm behind it or just plain not tech-savvy.
Both English and Spanish language downloads are currently available for Adivina.
