Alpha-prime
Developed by Black Element Software, "Alpha Prime" is a first-person shooter for the PC. Arnold Weiss, the game's protagonist, must rescue trapped miners from an asteroid after the rare element they were harvesting drove members of the mining party insane. Czech science fiction author Ondrej Neff wrote the game's story, crafting a strong plot capable of maintaining suspense from the opening scene through the dramatic conclusion.
The game features 10 levels, each one requiring Weiss to do battle with an assortment of crazed humans and lethal robots. Players can use a pistol, a shotgun, a machine gun, a sniper rifle, a rocket launcher, a flamethrower, grenades, or even a basic hammer to kill enemies. Battles even include bullet time physics, which allows players to slow down time to avoid being shot. Aside from the standard run-and-gun action, players also engage in puzzle solving and hacking challenges in an effort to escape the deadly asteroid.
