Published by Capcom for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox360, "Dark Void" is a combat video game that utilizes the Unreal Engine 3 for enhanced graphics and pixel rendering. The game's protagonist is World War II cargo pilot William Augustus Grey, who passes through the Bermuda Triangle and ends up transported to an alternate world known as the Void. Grey emerges in the middle of an alien war and discovers one of the alien races is actually funneling help to the Axis powers back on Earth. In an effort to escape the Void and cut off the alien supply lines, Grey must learn to use the alien technology, even seeking assistance from legendary inventor Nikolai Tesla.
The game plays as a combination of a standard on-foot fighting game and an aerial combat adventure, as Grey dons a rocket jetpack and takes to the skies to shoot down enemy robots. Once in flight, players can hijack other aircraft or engage in a unique vertical fighting system in which Grey hovers in place to take cover against walls. Players can also collect tech points and then cash in the points at the start of each level for weapons upgrades.
