Hailing from its prestigious in-store placement in the $5 bin at K-Mart, Delta Force Xtreme takes the classic FPS formula and does nothing to impress with it. Graphics aren't bad, but they look very dated. Sound effects are dull and stock-sounding. None of the weapons fire with a convincing noise, making them sound a bit like toys. The only pieces of music are two throwaway tracks I'd expect to hear at a laser tag arena. Because they never play in-game either, the game effectively has no music (with the exception of the menus.)
Enemy AI is extremely poor, with enemies charging at you and firing blindly over huge distances while you are free to pick them off with a sniper rifle. They'll shoot at you from miles away with no chance to hit their mark, and unless they get extremely close to you, have virtually no chance of doing you any serious harm. Killing enemies earns you experience points, but rather than unlocking new guns or equipment, they just add up to a "high score". Rather dated, don't you think?
It may keep you busy for a while, but you truly get what you pay for with Delta Force Xtreme.
