Devil May Cry is the 3rd sequel in the immensely popular series of "hack n' slash" Devil May Cry games. Unlike other Devil May Cry games, you play the role of another main character by the name of Nero. You also control Dante on some occasions, and their abilities vary.

Presentation

For those that are used to highest end of graphics, Devil May Cry 4 may disappoint you. It isn't ugly, by any stretch of the imagination. it just doesn't look great. On the positive side, the framerate keeps steady despite all the crazy fighting transpiring onscreen. Level design is almost nonexistent. To be honest, you're going to be busy fighting so much, it's easy not to notice how lazy the level design is.

The sound design is decent enough. There isn't anything to really write home about. What will irritate some people is the soundtrack. It's full of a bunch of hard rock that may seem a little jarring to those that haven't played a Devil May Cry game. TheThe sound design is bound to get a little flack. Lovers of Devil May Cry will probably love it, those that are new to the series may be annoyed by how out of place it be sometimes.

Gameplay

People play Devil May Cry games because they are fun. While the sound is little iffy and the levels aren't competently designed, that doesn't take anything away from how the game actually is. This game is fun. It's challenging and the ranking system always pushes you to do a little bit better. The combos are insane and mastering the combo system makes for some very rewarding kills. There's no greater satisfaction than clearing out an entire room of enemies is one giant combo.

Conclusion

All in all, Devil May Cry 4 isn't a perfect game. The graphics are average and the plot is way too silly to be taken seriously. However, that fun that's to be had from the gameplay can't be overlooked. Devil May Cry 4 is a blast and people that just want to have fun and challenge themselves should give this game a fair shot.
