Devil's Tuning Fork is most assuredly a unique game. It is a game created by students from DePaul University for the 2010 Indie Games Fest. You play as a child who wakes up in an alternate reality and must navigate by sound waves alone to save other children from a mysterious coma.

You play by clicking to send out a wave of sound, which briefly reveals your surroundings, in a kind of echolocation, like bats use. You must then explore and solve puzzles to save everyone using this unique mechanic. If the look reminds you of an Escher painting, that's because it was inspired by one. The game looks amazing, but you need a decently computer to run it without lag, otherwise it makes the game more difficult than in should be.

The game itself it quite good, instantly creating it's own identity and then running with it. The puzzles are challenging but not frustrating. There is no combat, just puzzles and platforming.

The game is quite wonderful and clever, and has been released for free, so there's no reason not to at least try it.
