Duty Calls: Calm Before the Storm is a parody of the "realistic first-person shooter" genre that is so popular these days. Charge your way through generic mission after generic mission where guys from Russia or whatever shoot at you, and you shoot back with bullets that say 'boring'. Your screen goes bloody sometimes, and that is very realistic! Achieve such awe-inspiring ranks as Master Sergeant Shooter Person! Enjoy thrilling cut scenes with fat intimidating army people with corny accents! If you're sick of realism, you'll love this game.
One of the best attributes about this title is that, if you are interested in game development, it gives you plenty of ideas of what NOT to do in your game. Take it as an example of exactly what a "generic" game is, and deviate as far as you can from that. As far as actual gameplay goes, although the game may not do a ton to hold your attention, it will definitely give you some laughs. With how overly-serious games have become these days, one that gives you a few chuckles is a hard thing to come by.
