FIFA 09 is loaded with more than 500 international teams from over 30 different leagues including the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Seriea A and German Bundesliga. Additionally, 41 national teams are also featured in FIFA 09. More than 10,000 real professional players are available for control in this game. All of the exciting soccer action takes place in more than 40 different world famous stadiums such as in England and Germany.

A traditional season mode in FIFA 09 allows players to compete against the best opponents for multiple seasons. Realistic transactions, injuries, deals and other factors take place behind the scenes in season mode that allows for building an entire virtual franchise.

Weather effects in FIFA 09 are only simulated in exhibition mode, which is a freestyle mode for friendly matches. Rain, snow and other similar events don't influence the pitch in the season mode of this game. Custom team tactics in the season mode allow for creating thousands of different combinations for a playbook that can be used at any time. Custom control button assignments are also available in FIFA 09.
