God of War II came out for the Playstation 2 in 2007 to overwhelmingly positive reviews. Picking up not long after the original story's end, the game is more streamlined and well-oiled than its predecessor. Players can expect an epic storyline, stunning graphics, vast landscapes, and a fine-tuned combat system in this Greek mythology inspired game.
God of War II follows the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior who in his journies overthrows Ares and becomes the God of War. He is a pariah among gods and goes against the wishes of many of them. Betrayed and stripped of his powers by Zeus, Kratos goes on a journey to recover these powers and overthrow the god who cast him down.
Kratos learns to use many weapons and magics over the course of his adventure, lending versatility to combat in the format of ranged and melee weapons. In addition to this he gains relics that add more to the gameplay, such as the Amulet of the Fates, which lets him slow down time, and Icarus Wings, which allow him to fly over short distances from jumping.
All in all God of War II is an amazingly structured game which exceeds the first game in many ways. It's a definite recommendation for anyone into action-adventure games, Greek mythology, and stunning graphics.
