Hexxagon is a board game played by two players, and it is a popular school game because of the math-based skills it teaches. One player is represented by rubies and the other by pearls. Some versions of this game use different tokens than rubies and pearls, and some versions even use numeric values on the tokens, which adds another layer of complexity. The goal of the game is to dominate the board, and a player does that by filling every hexagon with one of their tokens.
Every ruby and pearl can spawn another into an adjacent hex, which is how players fill empty hexes. In addition, any new ruby converts any pearl it touches and vice versa. So the board is an ebb and flow as players gain and loses ground. Hexxagon is available in multiple versions including Web based, app based and downloadable for the PC. Most version support human vs. human and human vs. computer, and some versions even have built-in matchmaking services.
