Homefront is a first person shooter, pitting you as Robert Jacobs, a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot. The game is set in the near future, where a diminished United States has been invaded by a dominant North Korea-led army with the United States subsequently occupied by North Korea. Gameplay involves both aspects of traditional first person shooters and first person vehicular gameplay, giving the game a maximalist combat experience in a grungy setting. Basically, the gameplay is similar to a combination of the Battlefield and Half-Life series combined together. The single player campaign is short, lasting 5-10 hours, but the multiplayer experience is more rewarding. Homefront's unique multiplayer attribute is its battle points system, which allows the player to purchase a variety of weapons and vehicles that can be used in multiplayer combat. Though the game has its high points, it also feels slightly rushed and similar to other online first person shooters. It is a great alternative to your favorite games, but do not expect a long shelf-life with this game to sate your appetite.
