Igowin, a name formed by compressing “I Go Win,” is a PC version of the game Go. Classic Go is a Chinese game that is more than 2,000 years old. It’s played on a 19x19 board, and like chess, it pits two players against one another, one representing white, the other black. Go, however, uses polished stones as pieces rather than the more elaborate pieces used by Chess.
Unlike classic Go, Igowin only uses a 9x9 board. Otherwise, Igowin uses the classic rules. There are a couple of benefits to the smaller board: It’s a more accessible introduction for the new player, and the game plays much faster. One issue with classic Go is that the games can run long, so this is a version of the game that can be played relatively fast. The game supports single player, and it supports multiplayer locally, by LAN and via the Web.
