A new iteration in the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault series, Breakthrough takes you back to the battlefields of World War II fighting for the Allies against German forces in Europe. In this multiplayer version, the goal is either to eliminate the opposing team, or to capture objectives belonging to the enemy. Players select a side, either Allies or the forces of Nazi Germany, and battle it out in a variety of realistic historic locations.
A variety is weaponry is available that all matches the time period. Two favorite weapons of mine made an appearance, the M1 rifle and the 1940s-style Thompson submachine gun. There is also some heavier firepower with which to dispense of your enemies, including a bazooka that is especially useful for neutralizing enemy tanks, explosive satchel charges, and hand grenades. These are designed in both the American (pineapple) and German (stick) styles.
Multiplayer is compatible with both Internet and LAN play, so you can duke it out with players all over the world, or right in the same room. LAN play is exceptionally well suited for parties, as the low latencies on the network will make the gameplay smoother for everyone. This game is great fun!
