Operation Flashpoint is a military simulation first person shooter from Bohemia Studios. This game is one of the most realistic war simulators you will find, besides its sequels, which only improve upon it. Operation Flashpoint has one of the most complicated control setups ever, but the amount of features and options when playing the game is insane. Leaning, going prone, being a tank/helicopter/jeep/apc gunner, commander, driver, and passenger. You can take command and give orders to your squad or be a grunt. There's night vision for special ops missions. The campaign is fairly long and worth the time, but the real meat of the game is in the editor. One of the best editors I personally have ever seen makes it easy to just drop units onto the island and give them waypoints for a simple combat mission. Or you can dig deep and learn the scripting and make a really in depth mission. The game's fan have made a ridiculous amount of addons that add vehicles, sounds, skins, graphics, missions, and more. If you like the game and have the patience to learn the controls then you are in for weeks or months of hardcore military sim action.
