Pirates: Battle for the Caribbean is a simple but addictive tower-defense-style game that will give your clicking finger a workout as you fight off fleet after fleet of enemy ships.
You can choose to play as a pirate or a British officer, but gameplay is similar in either case. You command an island fort in the center of the screen, and before long enemy ships will come sailing in to try to unseat you. Your fort is armed with cannons to sink the enemy ships and flares to block incoming cannon fire. Just point and click where you want to direct your fire. These are cannonballs, not lasers, of course, so being able to properly lead the enemy ships is an essential skill. Clear a level and you'll get to choose among various power-ups to make your fort more deadly.
The game comes with 30 missions. You can play in a campaign mode on either side, or just switch to survival mode and see how long you can hold out against endless waves of enemies. Pirates: Battle for the Caribbean may not be the most intellectual game around, but it offers hours of good simple blasty fun.
