TimeShift is a sci-fi-themed first-person shooter published by Sierra Entertainment and developed by Saber Interactive. It was released in 2007 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. At launch, TimeShift only had a single-player mode. After launch, Saber/Sierra released a TimeShift multiplayer demo for the PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The multiplayer demo is also playable in a single-player mode.

Using the TimeShift multiplayer demo, players are able to play many of the maps from the single-player campaign, as well as some new maps, in a multiplayer environment. The demo also gives the session creator the ability to name and tweak modes. Players can adjust gravity, weapon availability, spawn protection, armor re-spawn time and so forth. In addition, the demo includes a series of multiplayer modes, such as death match, team death match, capture the flag, one vs. one and rocket arena.

The demo is essentially a full-blown multiplayer mode for TimeShift, but it never lost the demo tag because Sierra was always noncommittal about it. They dipped their toe in the water while maintaining the right to abandon it, which they eventually did. Nevertheless, TimeShift multiplayer is fun and stable, and it still has a very large and active multiplayer community.
